Best Parks for Kids

Five spots where kids can run, splash, climb, skate, or turn a simple afternoon into an easy local outing.

1. Project SWING

This downtown playground is a community-built classic that got a full makeover and reopened in late 2022. The 23,000-square-foot play area packs in slides, swings, tire swings, wooden forts and towers, a pavilion, interactive play and exercise equipment, and a little library for a quieter pause.

2. Treaty Park

At 47 acres, Treaty Park is the everybody-gets-something option: an ADA playground, courts for basketball, tennis, pickleball, bocce, and paddle tennis, a softball field, dog park, horseshoe pit, pavilion, and trail. Older kids get the Robert-Laryn Skate Park, with 28,000 square feet of concrete and a Little Dudes Park for beginners and skaters under 12.

3. Ron Parker Park

A shaded neighborhood favorite in St. Augustine Beach with two playscapes, a picnic area, a dog park, a softball field, two basketball courts, two tennis courts, three paddle tennis courts, and three pickleball courts. The shade is the quiet hero here, especially when the beach feels like too much sun.

4. Splash Park at the Pier

When kids need to cool off, this beachside spot pairs a playground with the essentials parents actually care about: restrooms and a shower. It sits at the pier, so it folds easily into a St. Augustine Beach day.

5. Anastasia State Park

This is the big-day-out option: more than 1,600 acres of beaches, tidal marshes, maritime hammocks, and ancient sand dunes. Beyond the playground, families can swim, shell, hike, paddle from the canoe and kayak launch, look for wildlife, use picnic pavilions, and rely on restrooms, showers, and a concession when the day stretches longer.
