Scope

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to Today in St. Augustine and the Today in Network publications, including our websites, newsletters, Facebook newsletter signup forms, and Facebook Page tools, including the TIN Ads Reporting app. In this policy, “we,” “us,” and “our” mean Today in Network.

Information

Information we collect

When you subscribe, we collect your email address and may collect interests, signup location, referral and campaign information, the page where you signed up, browser information, and subscription status and timestamps. We also record email delivery, processing, open, click, bounce, complaint, and unsubscribe events when provided by our email service.

When you use the site, our hosting and measurement tools may receive technical information such as your IP address, browser or device information, referring page, pages viewed, and actions taken. The site uses Plausible Analytics and Meta measurement tools. Meta tools may use the _fbp and _fbc cookies and may receive a hashed version of a subscriber email address, IP address, browser information, campaign details, and a subscription event.

If you comment on or message a Facebook Page we administer, Meta may send us your Facebook identifier and display name, the text of your comment or message, related post or object identifiers, timestamps, and the webhook data needed to process the interaction. We may classify the interaction and keep a history of prior interactions so an editor can prepare and review an appropriate response.

If you email us, we receive the information you include in that message.

Facebook signup

Newsletter signup through Meta Instant Forms

If you submit a newsletter signup form inside Facebook, Meta provides us with the email address you submit and any other answers or consent choices you provide in that form. We also receive information identifying the form, Facebook Page, ad, and campaign associated with the signup, together with submission and processing timestamps.

We use this information to subscribe you to the city newsletter identified in the form, send its welcome email and related service messages, record your signup and consent choices, measure the campaign, prevent duplicate subscriptions, and troubleshoot delivery. Submitting the form does not subscribe you to every Today in Network publication. You can unsubscribe through the link in our emails or contact us below.

We obtain this signup information through Meta and process it in our subscriber and email systems. Meta also processes information under its own privacy policy. The notice shown in the form explains the signup you are requesting; this policy does not replace that notice or any choices you make there.

Use

How we use information

We use information to operate and secure the site, manage subscriptions and unsubscribes, send newsletters and service messages, understand how readers find and use our publications, measure subscription campaigns, respond to tips and corrections, and review Facebook comments and messages before responding. We may also use information to prevent abuse, troubleshoot problems, enforce our rights, and comply with law.

Providers

Where information is processed

We use service providers to run these functions. They currently include Vercel for website hosting and request handling, Supabase for database storage, Resend for email delivery, Plausible for website measurement, and Meta for Facebook Pages, Instant Forms, Pixel, and Conversions API services. We share information needed for those functions with the relevant providers; they also have their own terms and privacy practices. Sponsoring a newsletter does not give an advertiser access to individual subscriber email addresses or signup records. We may also disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect people, our services, or our rights.

Storage

Cookies, local storage, retention, and security

Meta measurement tools may set or read cookies. The site also uses local browser storage to remember whether you dismissed the subscription bar. You can limit cookies through your browser settings, although some measurement features may stop working.

We retain subscription information while it is needed to provide the newsletter. After an unsubscribe, we may keep limited suppression records to honor the opt-out. Signup, consent, campaign, delivery, and interaction records are retained as needed to document the signup, measure campaigns, resolve problems, prevent abuse, and meet applicable legal requirements. We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer needed for those purposes, subject to deletion requests and any records we must retain by law. We use access controls and other reasonable safeguards, but no system can guarantee absolute security.

Choices

Your choices and requests

You can unsubscribe through the link in any newsletter, including one you joined through a Facebook Instant Form. Unsubscribing stops future newsletter emails; it does not by itself delete all signup or delivery records. You may also ask us to access, correct, or delete information we control, subject to applicable law and records we must retain. For information received from Facebook, follow our data deletion instructions.

Send privacy requests to ian@todayinnetwork.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

Updates

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our services or practices change. We will post the revised policy here and update the effective date above.
